Oregon Patients Rights Association Supports Measure 101

Although Oregon Patients Rights Association (OPRA) supports universal one-payer system of health care financing, we also support the Medicaid expansion that happened in Oregon under the Affordable Care Act (ACA/Obamacare).  We encourage everyone to vote Yes on Measure 101, which will be on the ballot in January.

If Measure 101 does not pass, there may be drastic cuts to the Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid). This could impact a significant number of low wage earners, who do not get health insurance through their employers, as well as others who are unable to pay for their own health insurance.

It is true that OPRA has been opposed to the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) model Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) used here.  However doing away with the health care tax will not address those problems and can harm many people.
